Helping Firefighters

I am so thrilled to have given gift bags with sunscreen and skin cancer education pamphlets to the firefighters at Green Knoll Volunteer Fire Company, Martinsville Volunteer Fire Department, and Country Hills Volunteer Fire Company!!

I have always wanted to be a firefighter. My mom, who is a dermatologist, told me about firefighters getting more skin cancers (especially melanomas) because of their jobs. Firefighters do so much to help us. I wanted to do something to help them. I decided to visit fire stations with my mom and twin brother to educate firefighters about having yearly skin exams and about wearing sunscreen. The skincare company La-Roche Posay donated $4,000 worth of sunscreen for my project. I am giving gift bags to the firefighters that contain the sunscreen and pamphlets with information about skin cancer to raise awareness. If you would like us to visit your fire station, please contact me at sameercares@yahoo.com
